The Greek Committee on Large Dams (GCOLD) was founded in 1965, aiming to promote the development of all the aspects of design, construction, maintenance and operation of large dams and the conduction of scientific research in this domain. 

Today the commission has approximately 200 members, Greek scientists, engineers, technicians and firms activated in the field of the design, construction or operation of dams.

The Greek Commission on Large Dams is the Greek National member of the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD).
